Watch Out for the Snake in the Grass!

May 25, 2016 by i5lwl

If you do what is right, won’t you be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it. Genesis 4:7 HSCB

Reflect:

Many times when things are going well in our Christian walk, we can become complacent, and then we get surprised when we mess up. It can get easy to skip our daily prayer time, or to put off spending time in the Scriptures. Complacency, however gives way to sin that may seem “harmless” at first, but soon will lead to a downward spiral of aberrant domination.
Satan is patient, he knows he can start small, plant thoughts and doubts and wait for them to turn in to negative actions. To defeat sin, we must not get lax on our time with God in our prayer time and in the scriptures.

The holes in our lives can only be satisfied in Christ alone. The reality is that sin is crouching at the door, ready to dominate at any time, convincing us that the only things that will fulfill us are sinful behaviors. If we don’t stay prayed up or spend time in His word, sisters, that’s when we are most likely to fall.

As women of God we can’t afford to slack off on our relationship with God, for our sake, and for the sake of our friends and family. Our Christian walk is a marathon, not a sprint. Keep pressing on sisters, fight the good fight. We know who wins in the end.

Pray:

God we thank you so much for your grace, and for sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins. Holy Spirit, fill me up in my prayer time, as well as the time I spend with you in your Word. Give me the strength to walk away from temptation, and to be the woman of God you created me to be. When I fail, help me to remember your grace, and that I am seen as loved, beautiful, and righteous in your eyes. I love you, Father. Amen.

Your Turn:

Do you ever find that you get idle in your prayer life or quiet time?

What are different ways you can connect to God? (For example: music, nature, art) take a few minutes of your day, and just spend it with God. Don’t think too hard, just “be” with the Creator of the Universe.
