“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3
Reflect
If I could name this season of my life, I would call it “uncertainty”. I’m staring at a future that has the potential of holding within it both realized dreams and much heartbreak. Some of the uncertainty is exciting, while other parts induce fear. My heart longs to know what’s going to happen, but I’m reminded I’m not God, and the knowledge of what’s to come isn’t mine to grasp.
Truly, we never know what we’ll encounter on the path of our lives. But we can know for certain as we walk by faith, God will continue to guide us on the path that leads to righteousness and Christ-likeness. That is a promise, and it’s not a second best or a consolation prize. If our lives, filled to the brim with difficulty, produce a clearer resemblance of Jesus in the end, that will be worth every single tear. So let us walk by faith into the unknown and uncertainty, knowing we can be certain God will use it for our good—for our sanctification. He will give us more of Himself, and that is a gift to be treasured.
Pray
Lord, I praise You for the reminder that You alone are God. Please give us peace as we walk the path You’ve set before us. May we glue our eyes to You as our Good Shepherd. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Your Turn
If you’re wrestling with the uncertainty of your life, I encourage you to ask God for grace to trust Him. Consider writing out Psalm 23 and meditating on God as our Good Shepherd.
