To the Mom Who Needs Jesus

August 7, 2018 by i5lwl

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16

Reflect

To the mom who forgets to eat because she’s tending to the needs of her children over her own…

To the mom who is trying to juggle raising a baby and working and feels defeated…

To the mom who sees toddlers out in public and misses when hers were that little…

To the mom whose husband hasn’t noticed her new haircut and just wants to feel beautiful again…

To the mom wishing for just 5 minutes to herself and some adult conversation…

To the mom who can’t get her baby to stop crying while tears stream down her face…

To the mom who has nothing to show for the baby that was once growing inside her belly…

To the mom who looks at herself in the mirror with disgust as her hand traces her stretch marks, wishing she could go back to her pre-pregnancy body…

To the mom who doesn’t want to leave the house because facing the real world is too much to handle…

To the mom who finally gets her baby to sleep but is counting down the minutes until he wakes up because she misses him…

I’m not here to tell you that you’re amazing. I’m not here to tell you that you’re enough. I’m not here to boost your confidence or boast in your abilities. Because at the end of the day, those things won’t give you peace. At the end of the day, those thing won’t heal your tired and weary soul.

I’m here to point you to the truths in the Gospel. I’m here to remind you to rest in Christ. If we put our hope and faith in our own abilities, we will fail as mothers…but if we put our trust in Christ, He will sustain us.

The world will tell you that you are enough and that you are worthy. The world will tell you to believe in yourself to get through the hard days. But I’m telling you quite the opposite.

To the mom who needs Jesus, I’m right there with you.

Pray

Father, thank You for the Gospel. Allow me to rest in Your promises rather than relying on myself to get through the long and hard days. I have everything only because of Your grace. I pray I can be the mother You’ve called me to be. Amen.

Your Turn

Are you feeding into the lies of the world and relying on yourself to get you through motherhood? Are you feeling worn out and distraught? Rest in Christ, mama. He is the only thing that will refresh your soul. Open up His Word, and get to know Him better.
