The Truth May Hurt a Little

November 4, 2016 by i5lwl

And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness Acts 4:29 ESV

Reflect:

In the coming days, a new President will be chosen to lead our country, emotions are going to be running high, and a divided nation will continue to speak on opinions, sentiment, and deeply personal issues that affect persons, families, and friends. In a hyper-sensitive culture, we are expected to water down the message of the gospel in the name of feelings, and allow our brothers and sisters to continually identify in their own sin for the sake of what they think is happiness.

Scripture is never changing. Scripture is relevant. To the world the gospel is invasive, but the truth spoken boldly is the way we can radically love others the most. We must call sin out for what it is. I’m not saying that we should stand on a soapbox and yell out hateful things telling people how horrible they are, but we can’t stand by and watch those around us go down the desolate road to destruction. We must rise up sisters, and ask the Holy Spirit to give us the boldness to speak the truth, even when it means we will be hurt, ridiculed, and hated. Jesus said in John 15:18 that “if the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.” We have a responsibility that we have neglected too long. I’m asking and praying for boldness within myself and for you, sweet sisters. Love God, Love Others, Go.

Pray:

Father, thank you that you love us enough to give us Your Word to guide us.  Holy Spirit, empower me to be bold when you call me to be bold, and help me to love others enough to speak the truth. Thank you for your sovereignty as we continue to pray for this great nation and the people that inhabit it. In Your Name we pray, Amen.

Your Turn:

Take time each day to pray for your leaders, local and national.

Pray for opportunities to be bold and share the gospel.
