The Invitation

March 12, 2015 by i5lwl

Life is not perfect. Pantyhose run. Children put cell phones in toilets. The heel on your favorite pair of pumps can break. Occurrences like these can steal your peace, in the moment they happen, if you’re not careful.   And what about traumatic, life-altering events?  The husband who walks out.  A pink slip.  The devastating report from the doctor. Moments like this can not only steal your peace, but can seek to steal your hope and joy as well.

What do you do in those moments?  Who do you turn to when you have no peace, no hope or joy? I want to share a personal invitation with you. An invitation that is always extended to us. Yet, we sometimes forget.

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3, NKJV)

God personally invites you to call upon Him in those moments of desperation and He promises He will respond to your call. In those moments when you feel helpless and hopeless. Those moments in which your heart is heavy and you don’t know what to do.

You have a Heavenly Father who is there.  And He is waiting for and wanting you to call upon Him. See, He’s not like some people. People will say to you, in your moment of crisis, “Call me if you ever need anything.”  And when you need something, you quickly find out they really didn’t  mean what they said.

God invites you, His daughter, to come to Him. To call upon His name. To put your trust completely in Him. It’s something so wonderful about the name of the Lord.

Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord  is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” (NKJV)

There is safety and peace in the name of the Lord.  You may find yourself, even now, in the middle of the most horrendous circumstances.  Whatever the situation is, don’t hesitate to call upon your Father. And, be comforted,  knowing that He will answer you. He will respond. Time after time after time again.  He’s just that faithful.

King David knew that God was faithful to respond to the cries of His people. Read his words in Psalm 34:6-7:

“This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him,  And saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.”

David knew God as the God who responds and the God who is able to deliver. And he knew how to call upon Him when he needed Him. God raised him up from a shepherd boy to a King.  And all throughout his life, David experienced the supernatural power of God to deliver over and over again.

You have a God whose ears are open and attentive unto your every cry.

And, at the moment when you feel like giving up, when you feel like you’re by yourself, and the pain is absolutely unbearable, please know that you have a Father that is able to deliver you and give you peace.

All He wants you to do is invite Him into the situation by simply calling upon Him.

Prayer: Father, sometimes I forget what peace and power is available to me when I feel overwhelmed by my circumstance. Please help me to look to you and you alone for the peace that only you can give.  You alone are my deliverer.
