“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;they are new every morning;great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
Reflect
I’m often surprised at how quickly I can tumble down into a pile of emotions and wallow in them like a pig. Even once I recognize my mistake, I’m tempted to then begin wallowing in sadness and guilt over my failure. How could I allow my feelings to rule my heart like that?
Regardless of what kind of emotions I find myself in, I’m reminded that through the power of the Holy Spirit I can get back on my feet and move forward. I don’t have to stay there—nor should I.
God’s mercies toward us are not just new each morning, but moment by moment. It’s true that we need Him every hour. This mercy is offered to us always. We can boldly approach His throne for the help we need in any and every circumstance, whether it’s a heart full of sin, a heart full of sadness, or a little of both (Hebrews 4:16).
Friend, His mercies are new right now.
Join me in taking hold of this great mercy, falling before the throne of grace, and putting one foot forward in our race toward heaven. He’s promised to be with us every step of the way.
Pray
Father, we can be so very wrapped up in how we feel. I pray for Your help as we navigate our emotions and strive to honor You with them rather than allowing them to control us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Your Turn
Have you been buried in your emotions today? Go to the Lord to talk to him about it in prayer. Then, do the next best thing.
