“The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” Psalm 145:8
Reflect
Have you ever struggled with a lack of desire for the Lord? You know you need to pray and seek Him in His Word, and yet, your heart wrestles against it. You feel antsy and restless to move on to the next thing on your to-do list.
I love deep Bible study, but I still have days where it’s hard to get my heart right before God. What we shouldn’t do is cower in shame for being a “bad Christian.” Instead, let us repent of our lack of desire for God and move forward in faith, asking that He’d cause our hearts to long for Him more. Pray that He would be more to us than social media, more to us than our to-do lists, and more to us than anything we desire.
So, rather than wallowing in guilt and shame like the enemy would like, let us tune into the words of our loving Father. He is steadfast, even when we are not.
Pray
Father, I praise You for Your faithfulness to us. Even when we are unfaithful, Your steadfast love never ceases. Please cause our hearts to long for You more than anything else. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
