You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit… John 15:6
The first and second chapters of Genesis have been wooing me lately. It’s the story of our beginning. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, known as The Trinity, had a conversation and agreed on an idea. And that idea was us! God wasn’t lonely or desperate, He wanted you and I to spend time with Him for eternity. He wanted us.
We all desire to be chosen. We want to be found brave and lovely and capable and enough. Through God’s incredible redemptive power, we have been made exceptional. The Bible is certainly not about us, it’s about Jesus, and in telling His story, it’s our story too. As we dive deeper into Scripture, we are repeatedly reminded of His great, purposeful love. John 15:6 teaches He chose us and He gave us a role to fill. There are specific purposes He designed with each of us in mind that are for our good and His glory. We go out into our days chosen and empowered. By His grace, we are given opportunities to tell the world of Him in word and deed. We are chosen to invite others into knowing how chosen they are.
