But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 3:13-14 ESV
“No good!” “Failure!” “Fake!” Do you hear that? Don’t listen! We are human and will fail but with the Holy Spirit’s help, we must recognize it and repent of it. We can either allow failure to define us or we can look to the cross, claim victory and march on. The enemy of our souls would love nothing more than to rub our noses in our mistakes and convince us to move to the sidelines. Life is a fight. When we fall, we have to get back up. When that is forgotten, our guards come down, complacency creeps in and missteps take place. Anytime we keep our focus on ourselves and not on Jesus, we are losing ground in the battle to finish well. He never asked us to be perfect, for He knows we cannot be. He only asks that we believe and be faithful. When you stumble, repent and remind yourself of the woman you are because of Jesus. You are holy, beloved, perfect and spotless in Him. Arming yourself with this perspective empowers you to, by faith, look to His righteousness and not your own.
Forget the past, the mistakes, and the blunders and press on to hear those glorious words, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
