Can a Christian Woman do a Boudoir Photo Shoot?

This article is to answer a reader’s question about Christianity and Boudoir Photos.

Reader Jennifer asks: “My husband wants me to do a boudoir photo shoot with a local Orlando boudoir photographer called Sin Boudoir. I’m a Christian woman, so I’m a little worried this might be inappropriate. The company is even called Sin Boudoir! And the photographer is a MAN! I want to do this for my husband but need to know if this is ok with God before I do it. Help!”

Well Jennifer, this is a complicated situation. It sounds like you want to do it, but worried about the biblical ramifications.

First of all, we need to assess what the purpose of the photos are for. You state that your husband wants them. If they are for him only, and you won’t be sharing them with anyone else, I don’t see any sin there.

The photographer will obviously be viewing your body and the resulting images. But if the photographer, even as a man, is a professional and isn’t LUSTING after you, I don’t see any sin there either. You probably have had several male doctors that have seen your lady bits, right? No real difference.

I get it that the company is called SIN BOUDOIR. That is most likely just a clever way for the business owner to demonstrate the sexiness of the imagery. It surely doesn’t mean that boudoir is a sin. I looked at the Sin Boudoir website, and while I find it on the explicit side, I view it more as art than pornography.

You should only do things that make you feel comfortable. Perhaps you could compromise and find a female boudoir photographer. I know that many women prefer male boudoir photographers for a variety of reasons (feeling judged by another woman, for example). But that may be a good “meet in the middle” option.

If your husband chose this particular boudoir photographer due to a certain style or skill level and he is adamant that this is the one you should choose, then it is up to you to make the final decision. You should balance your own morals with the desires of your husband. If boudoir is not a sin, and you can accept a male photographer, then I see no issue with submitting to your husbands’ desires and fulfilling this request for him.

I have never done a boudoir photo shoot; however I would not be opposed to it. It seems like a good way to empower yourself, feel beautiful with the body God gave you and give an amazing gift to your husband.

I say go for it. Boudoir is not a sin.

  1. I would never use a female boudoir photographer. First of all, they don’t know what a husband would want to see so their photos are boring. A man will know how to take the type of photos a another man will be interested in. Just find one with good reviews from a lot of women. No creeps! Sin Boudoir is great!

  2. Not a sin. A sexy gift for your husband can never be a sin. Your marriage is beautiful and is blessed by God. Never feel shame for pleasing your husband.

  3. I did boudoir photos for my husband and I also used a photographer that is a man. He was professional and my husband and I love the photos. They are very artistic. I don’t consider it sinful at all.

  4. Trust me, boudoir is amazing. I used a male boudoir photographer with no problems. My husband loves his photo album.

  5. Michael at Sin Boudoir did my photos last year. He was great. So nice and really knows how to get good poses. I don’t think it’s a sin at all. My husband loves the pics.

  6. I’m currently looking to do a boudoir shoot for my husband but was also worried about sinning. So glad I found this article and I will check out Sin Boudoir too. Thank you.
