Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. –Jeremiah 17:7
Reflect:
Have you ever noticed that the older you get, the more real life gets? As the years progress our youthful ignorance can easily be replaced with anxiety and fear because, honestly, there is a lot to be overwhelmed about! I believe that God uses the harder realities in life, whatever they may look like, to repeatedly remind us that we are not home. And while our brains know that, our hearts easily lose the way. Trials and losses act as painful roadblocks rerouting us to the Source of our hope and our security. If our hope is in anything but the Lord, we will be undone.
There is a tremendous blessing when, despite what we see or how we feel, we trust God and look to Him for our confidence. When we choose faith instead of fear, peace reigns. When we choose trust instead of control, our hearts are calmed. Because everything will change but Him, Christ is the Rock that our hearts, our minds, and our lives must be built upon. He is the calmer of every storm. He is the lifter of every head. He has overcome!
